Starting last week I began to code the home page. I’m still having small issues with the search box. When I get done with this page it will make it alot easier to buildout the rest of my pages for Shop, Collection, About, and Contact as well as login, register and checkout.
Neu Clothing Logo. Narrowing down the choice to the best type of all and a better skyline view. I wanted to keep it Denver rather than having another city skyline represent Neu Clothing. It’s a better angle of Denver with some minor alterations. Instead of the skyline in the loop of the “g” I made it the background with a dark gray choice and chose Neu to have the Cyan that you see. =]
A little revision of making the type smaller and the social media icons smaller. This creates more type hierarchy on the logo and call to action title.
Retro Script, Yeah!
Two advantages Stable has over Neu.
1) Better photography concepts for advertisement on Facebook
2) Themed tee shirt designs
For down the road this would be something to catch up on but as for now it helps that they have a grasp on their target market. What they lack is a slogan and brand identity that can easily be found. They do have one I just can’t seem to read the whole statement on their page.
This is Stable Clothing’s homepage. It’s a step up from Neu but not as professional as Illest. It’s effective on the product page but it lacks an attractive welcoming homepage. It’s clean and easy to navigate. The only downfall is that it’s so clean that everything is just floating in space. There is not background to give the page depth. For all the time they used to design hats and t-shirts they could have also used time to design their site as well. The second thing is that there are so many buttons below the banner that everything is bunched up in a handwritten typeface that looks unappealing.
This is Illest Website and boy does it look pretty! Nice high definition graphics and easy to navigate. Each layout looks just like this one and its a clean design that has little reading.
With one problem… some pages do not upload =/ maybe it’s me and how my comp is acting.. idk. BUT the background photo changes with the click of a left or right arrows or it will change with 10 second intervals, so its not suddenly changing to where the user freaks out. Each page has 3 or more pictures each so its never the same themed background throughout. Even better if you wanted to view a picture in collections, it becomes the background so that you see the space being utilize as a design instead of a boring light box (just kidding I like light boxes). They even place the text or image boxes in nice opacity boxes that are subtle enough to know its there to open or close.
This is a layout I may go towards for Neu Clothing because it is just successful in many ways.
Just when I thought I had something figured out, I didn’t. blah! =/
When I took the time to really let what midterm had suggested to me and everyone in the room pretty much said “I failed.”
So I buckled down to really sit and ponder for a good day or two to come up with the better solution for my capstone. What I realized is that Neu Clothing Co really did need a new logo, brand identity, slogan and to top it off a nicely designed layout that matched the style for the new logo and overall style. That and tee shirts have all been figured out for the summer of 2013. So I can take the idea of designing shirts and toss that dream to the wind and play to my strengths for a great layout for the website.

I’ll be keeping a nice update of my work progresses on top of that this is what my weekly schedule until the week 11 will look like.
Week 6: I will be putting together a nice style board, comparing a company that has went from a two person company to a popular stores in California named Illest, and Stable a clothing company that started the same time as Neu Clothing. I will also come up with a 3 redesign Neu Clothing Co logos that reflects 2013 biggest design trends for logos. At this point I’ll be following the trend Script Retro style and two other design styles. Both Illest and Stable have the script look and it is very successful, why go with the flow? Instead of being only different, why not compete in the same category of “graffiti hip” while having a clean logo as well. Typefaces that are completely stylized.
Week 7: work on refining ideas and bring it all down to a solid look and feel.
Week 8: Start coding! Gathering the information I have at this point, I’ll be able to have a direction to take Neu Clothing into a professional stand point. Avoiding the confusing layout. Adding in more photos. Creating a favicon. Lastly making it look like Neu site belongs in the 21st century. Clean and designed.
Week 9: Continue on the site and refining ideas for the final
Week 10: present? or continue refining
Week 11: present final
There is so much I want to do but I feel that because I have partnered with a company that can only do so much in a certain amount of time that I am in a position to do what I need to do for my project.
I was able to get the 9 designs on Facebook and to my surprise it had a great peer review. The fans of Neu Clothing Co were able to comment on which design they liked most. It would be comments of liking either one particular color and style or liking a row or column.
This helps me know that I am heading in the right direction. I was able to get attention from my target demographic and have them approve of it as well. I can take Neu into the next step with confidence that I will have those shirts in particular, sold at a higher rate than any other designs I have made in the past.
What I wanted to do was have a hand full of Neu Stickers and place them in areas of Greeley, Loveland and Fort Collins that it would be recognizable in a photo. Place that slogan, “Whats Neu _(insert city name_?” and create photos for Facebook users to see what direction were headed. Which is Northern Colorado. BUT! Since I do not have a hand full of stickers I will be taking the one sticker I have and using it in various places until I can attain the sticker to leave in the photographed spot permanently or until someone peels it off.
This is a strategic way for Neu to start reaching to Northern Colorado. Getting the name to be seen at bars, streets, benches, parks or any heavy pedestrian spots to recognize the name enough to question the sticker and then look up the company.
I WANT THIS KNOWN
There are many feature ads that I am basing this idea off of. It’s not new for a small company to get there name out and big for everyone to know. Every company starting out has started with 1 or 2 people, that with smart tactics they are able to generate enough wonderful whatever stuff into a huge company. In a couple years I hope that I can help get Neu Clothing Co sold at Zumiez, Pac Sun or even have a Neu Clothing Store front. Until then, I can only generate the idea that Neu exsist.
This is the third round for Neu Clothing Co. shirts. When Jack was able to show designs to his friends and other potential customers it had shown that this design, especially the blue, was most liked.
This design is also slightly awkward. I played with the placement of the design to get the most out of the aesthetics
These are the final designs for Neu Clothing Co. I chose the basic colors red, green and blue to represent the basic 8 bit color usages and they are the strongest colors that the male demographic wear. I predict that the red and blue shirts are most likely to be liked. The great thing about each design is that it can easily be placed on white or black t-shirts.
